Naughty Elves

What happens when two elves steal Santa's latest invention? The idea of a steampunkish mechanical reindeer came to my mind some time ago and now it feels like the perfect time of the year to post it. Prints, notebooks, cellphone cases, etc. are available for sale on Society6.

The Finding

If not and Illustrator I should have been an Archaeologist or something like that. I've always been obsessed with ancient stones and artifacts, history showing through what cultures left behind. Somehow this passion mixed with my forever interest in fantasy and my passion for graphite pencils gave birth to this series. So far I have finished two pieces (first one here) with another two in process.
Prints of this image are available for sale on InPRNT and is also available as t-shirts, cellphone cases and laptop skins in my Society6 page.

Eyewitness Books

I’ve been a fan of Eyewitness Books (Enciclopedia Visual Altea en espaƱoll) for many years now. They are not just fun educational tools but also an excellent reference for my Illustration work. Here is the thing: when you think about vikings you picture, well… you standard viking warrior. But when you browse one of this books you get a glimpse at many other objects and elements that shaped their culture, even little things you wouldn’t imagine like the arm of a wooden viking chair carved with little cat’s heads or a deer’s antler carved with a love message.
The structure of the books is pretty dynamic, pages full of images with explanatory texts surrounding them. They have a few special editions that include transparent sheets with cross sections of temples, houses, ships, etc.
I can easily jump to internet whenever I need to do research but -if the topic permits it- going back to this little treasure is way more fun.

Josephine, Ghost on Mars

Happy New Year everyone!
My first post of 2016 is a piece I finished while on December vacations. I recently read 'The Revolutions' by Felix Gilman and it totally blew my mind. Gilman is a wizard of blending Fantasy and Sci-Fi in a perfect way. The Revolutions is a mix of Victorian occultism, steampunk and Mars exploration, all topics I love with some great characters and many amazing visual concepts. After reading 'The Half-Made world series and 'The Revolutions' I consider myself a fan so this can be called fan-art and an homage to the main character on his novel.
